Oxford
The group's area covers an interesting mixture of country and city, moorland and backstreets, woods and classical parks. The group footpath secretary's work will vary from shared footpath and cycleways in the city centre on one day to rights of way across historic Port Meadow on the next, perhaps taking in the Oxford canal and the Thames Path as he goes!
The largest part of the group's walks are put in by the Wednesday walkers. These walks started from two or three friends meeting every Wednesday and has grown to today's numbers - an almost embarrassing success which on occasion rises to over fifty. Our walks, and those run on other days, will move from the Chilterns in the east to the Cotswolds in the west, with a few exploring the parks and alleyways of the city itself.
The group's AGM includes a leading speaker talking about some of the problems and opportunities provided by the heritage of an international city. In addition members run their own social events such as a Christmas dinner and weeks away in the summer.
