The Annual Carol Service
On our fourth edition of this event which gets bigger every year a record sixty walkers (and 2 dogs) set off from The Crown at Nuffield to walk the four miles to the delightful church of St Botolphs at Swyncombe. A stop at halfway for refreshments kept our spirits up and soon the church was in sight. After the photo opportunity including Canon Tony Williamson was taken, it was time to leave 120 muddy boots to look after themselves. .

A special service for the group conducted by the Canon, included readings from five of the members. There were also some rousing carols to give us a good send off for the two miles walk back to the pub. Canon Tony Williamson joined us on the walk for lunch. Awaiting was some nourishing hot soup, salad, apples, cheeses and baskets of fresh bread, all this for £8! Thanks to the two main organisers Susan Maguire and David Waldie. If it gets any bigger next year we will need two sittings! What a great start for Christmas.
