Away Trip
Henley & Goring usually have 3 or 4 away trips every year both within UK and overseas. In 2007 we visited
Kingcombe, in Dorset; Llangollen in North Wales; Castleton in The Derbyshire Peaks and Soller in the mountainous
region of NW Majorca.
For 2008 we have three trips already fixed and one or two more in the pipe-line –
Firstly a week-end visit to Wells, the smallest city in England, walking in The Mendip Hills; staying in B&B
accommodation in the city with evening meals in local pubs.
Walks, led by members Susan & Ray Maguire, who have visited the area often, and Penny Williams who has a house
not far away, will be between 8 and 10 miles a day. |

This trip takes place from Friday April 18th to Sunday 20th; cost is approx £60 excluding travel; at present
the trip is fully subscribed but for further information and / or to put your name on the waiting list, in case

Secondly we are visiting The Lake District, staying for four nights at the youth hostel in Grasmere;
accommodation will be in 4 bedded dormitory style accommodation;

walks will be at two different grades – lower level medium grade led by an H&G member, Fran Piggott;
higher level walks will be led by another
of our members, Colin Sutton. It is hoped both sets of walkers will join up one day on walks to Cat
Bells and involving a boat trip on Derwentwater.
Dates for this trip are Friday July 18th to Tuesday 22nd.
Cost £185 including accommodation, breakfasts, 4 dinners, 3 packed lunches and local transport; (excluding transport to Lake District).

Thirdly – an overseas trip to Bayerische Eisenstein in North Eastern Bavaria, close to the Czech border.
Staying for 7 nights in chalet style apartments with dinners taken in a local restaurant.
The area is one of wooded rolling hills and lakes with some craggy mountain tops; there is a network of
waymarked walking trails and forestry roads; some walks will take us over the border to The Czech Republic
and some will involve using local public transport. |

The trip takes place from Saturday September 6th to 13th; cost (excluding flights to Munich) is approx £280.
