Henley & Goring Social Events
Henley and Goring have an active social programme with a range of events and activities. To give you a flavour,
here are some of the things we have done this year:

• Bluebell walk followed by tea and cakes
• Summer evening walks followed by a pub supper
• Oxfordshire Ramblers Groups annual joint picnic
• Summer Special walk and Bar-B-Q at Harpsden village hall with a jazz band
• Joint walks with Wycombe Group
• Christmas dinner for walk leaders and committee
• Carol service at Fingest church followed by walk and pub lunch
• AGM supper, slide show and social

• Boxing Day mystery walk with mice pies and mulled wine
• Chantry House lecture and Social Evening
• Get Walking Day display in Falaise Square
• Joint walks and working parties with Chiltern |Society
• Special interest walks – orchids, historical places
Arts and Culture Group
The group is thriving as more members use the e-mail list (which anyone can choose to join) to tell others
about interesting cultural events or to organise group outings. This year we’ve seen lots of films, several
concerts, operas, ballet, concerts, special exhibition visits. We’re always open to new ideas!

AGM and supper: Saturday 19 November 2011
A short business meeting followed by a slide show of the Group’s activities this year and a sumptuous sit-down
supper produced by our members.
Walk leaders, committee members and regular helpers' festive dinner: Friday 9 December
This year we’ll be at the Four Horseshoes in Checkenden.
Carol Service walk and lunch: Thursday 22 December 2011
A change of venue: this year we will meet at the Bird in Hand, Sonning Common for a choice of two walks which will
take us to Kidmore End church for a carol service at 1.15. We return to the pub for a hot buffet lunch.
Christmas Cake Walk: Thursday 27 December 2011
The walk will start at Woodcote.
Chantry House lecture: Friday 27 January
After the success of Curiosities of the Chilterns part 1 a couple of years ago, we’re having Curiosities of the
Chilterns part 2 this year!
London Walk: Saturday 11 February 2012
We’ll meet at Kew then walk to Hammersmith We’ll pass through the grounds of Chiswick House and stop at the cafe
there. We’ll also see Kelmscott House, home of William Morris and can take advantage of the free entrance after
2.00 pm.
