Didcot & Wallingford 75th anniversary baton walk
Twelve
ramblers and two dogs met in a cold frosty Watlington car park to begin the D&W group’s
Baton Walk. After circling Pyrton Manor we started along the Oxfordshire Way, soon crossing the
Ridgeway, and ascending up to Christmas Common. We then descended through two areas of woodland
ending up at The Crown in Pishill just five minutes before the H&G Group. At this point
five of
the walkers and the dogs opted to carry straight on whilst the rest of us enjoyed a wonderfully
warming soup lunch before passing the Baton on to H&G. We then made our way back to
Watlington by ascending up to the Chiltern Way and then down Shakespeare’s Way to complete the
loop.
