Didcot & Wallingford

Setting off for a walk at Speech House in the Forest of DeanDidcot & Wallingford group have a core of about 15 to 20 active walkers and a smaller group of friendly walk leaders. We contribute to the area programme with walks of varying lengths and demands. We are always keen to recruit more leaders and experienced members are always happy to support new walk leaders while they are "finding their feet". Our area includes the South Chilterns, Thames path and Berkshire Downs, providing a variety of terrain and scenery.

The D & W group has recently produced a leaflet listing all the short walks (up to 6 miles) from the Oxfordshire Ramblers programme. For information about these and the longer walks contact Kate or Keith on 01491 838689.

Additional activities are an annual summer barbecue and one or more rambling weekends away . A weekend on the Isle of Wight is planned for May 2007 to coincide with the island's "walking week". A successful AGM, held in November, was followed by an illustrated talk by a local historian. The group produces a newsletter that goes to all members about twice a year.
