Banbury and North Oxfordshire
Join Us
The Banbury and N. Oxfordshire (formerly Cherwell) is centred on the picturesque town of Banbury, complete with its statue of the fine lady on a white horse! However, the walks organised by the group are not just in north Oxfordshire.
We are ideally placed for sorties into the rest of Oxfordhire (including Oxford city), Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and in summer months Somerset, Derbyshire and Worcestershire feature.
Prior to 2007 AGM in November 2007 we were known as the Cherwell Group so our walks are coded with a capital C in the current Oxfordshire Area Winter Programme. We now call ourselves the Banbury & North Oxfordshire Group as it better describes the area we cover.
You can walk with our group every Wednesday and Sunday throughout February and March, walks ranging from four to ten miles in length. Here are three to whet your appetite!
Join us for a leisurely seven-and-a-half miles through Oxford on Sunday 3rd February, taking in the University Parks, Christchurch Meadows, Mesopotamia and Port Meadow, a walk which is interesting for its views of Oxford’s varied architecture as well as its scenery.
Or what about five miles amid the grandeur of Blenheim Park on Wednesday 12th February?
In contrast we will be passing through the ancient villages of Priors Hardwick and Priors Marston on the ten mile walk from Byfield on Sunday 16th March to the east of the Oxford Canal on the Northamptonshire / Warwickshire border.
Come and join us – you will be very welcome.
